Images shared on social media by Tigrayan activists in July 2021 show some of the farmers stoned to death by Ethiopian government soldiers in Wejerat, South Eastern Tigray, on 10th April 2021. The total communication shutdown imposed by the central government is to blame for the time gap between when the crime was committed and when it came to the attention of Tigrayan activists in the diaspora. Witnesses say ten farmers, who were carrying a pregnant woman in labor to a clinic, were killed by the soldiers.
