Video filmed in Ethiopia’s Afar region shows multiple mass graves containing the bodies of Tigrayan civilians who died as a result of hunger and diseases in Semera Concentration Camp. The person who filmed the video says the civilians were forcibly taken from Shiket [shehēt], also known as Abala.

“ትርእይዎ ለለኹም ካብ ሽኸት ተወሲዶም ኣብ ሰመራ ካምፕ ድሕሪ ምእታዮም ኣብቲ ካምፕ ብሕማምን ጥምየትን ልሞቱ ኣሕዋትና ልተቐበርሉ ቦታ እዩ። ኣብቶም ኻልኦት ካምፕታት እውን ኻሊእ ይህሊ”

More than 12,000 ethnic-Tigrayans were believed to have been languishing at the Semera Concentration Camp in Ethiopia’s Afar region. Hundreds of thousands of Tigrayans were sent to concentration camps across Ethiopia since the outbreak of the war in Nov. 2020.
